About Fairway
The Fairway Story
The Fairway Social Golf Club was formed in 2003 by a handful of enthusiastic golfers, eager to generate some competition and play on a regular basis against like-minded people. The inaugural meeting was held on Sunday, 3rd August 2003 at Fairfield Golf Course although the club was officially operating a couple of months prior. The club was incorporated under the Incorporation Act 1984 on 12 May 2005 and since that day the club has grown to around 34 paid members, with around 28 playing every second weekend at the various golf courses around Sydney and occasionally out of Sydney and interstate.
The founding members, Narendra Charan, Satya Deo, Abhi Mannu, and Vinod Singh are still active members in the club.
The members are diverse, from the youngest in their early 20s to retired players in their late 60s.
The games, with tee-off times, are booked at least a year in advance and there are
novelty prizes for each game re 2 x NTP, 2 x D&P and 2 x LD
2 x Supa Pin
The Winner & Runner up are presented with Trophies at the Annual Function.
Each player has an equal chance of winning the fortnightly competition as the handicap system is the ultimate leveller.
Through Golf Australia's Golf Access scheme, it enables every member to have a formal Golf Link handicap.
The after game fortnightly meetings are conducted on a very informal basis and provide a good opportunity for members to get together socially and have a chat over one or two cold ones at the clubhouse or if a member or members are sponsoring the event bbq or cooked food & drinks at a nominated location be it a park or someone's residence.
